Introducing: Best Coast

WHO IS BEST COAST? Bethany Cosentino on guitar, vocals and Bobb Bruno on bass, studio drums and baritone guitar live WHERE DID YOU MEET? We met when I was about 18 at a party in Hollywood after a Mika Miko show. My first memory of Bobb is that I was scared of him, but then we finally talked and I realized he’s just like a precious bunny rabbit in a black metal shirt. The first time Best Coast played a show was like June of 2009 at Echo Curio in LA. FAVORITE SONGS GROWING UP: My favorite song growing up was probably like “I Saw the Sign” by Ace of Base. Bobb says he liked that one too, even though he was like 20. We both were really into the Beatles and the Beach Boys growing up. DO YOU LIKE TOURING?  I like touring, but I’m a baby and I hate being away from home for long periods of time. Bobb’s a road dog, so he teaches me to get tough. WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST THING THAT’S HAPPENED ON TOUR? Nothing that weird has even happened to us–we are boring. We just like to go chill after a show. I need TV and weed and Bobb needs TV and Jim beam. RELATIONSHIP WITH NO AGE: No Age are just really good friends of ours. We are psyched on what they’re doing. RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR CAT: Snacks is like two. He is basically my son and he means the world to me. FAVORITE LA VENUES: I like playing the Smell and Echo Curio. They’re smaller, all ages, more DIY venues than some of the other venues in LA.

BEST COAST PLAYS MERCURY LOUNGE TONIGHT AT 7:30 PM. THE MERCURY LOUNGE IS LOCATED AT 217 EAST HOUSTON STREET, NEW YORK.
