Grace and Anna Van Patten are Hollywood’s hottest double-act. After starring opposite her little sister in the true-crime miniseries The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, Grace is returning to the toxic heights of her Hulu smash Tell Me Lies, while Anna is about to make waves in Euphoria season three. But none of that compares to the ordeal of growing up.

FRIDAY 4 PM JANUARY 9, 2026 NYC

GRACE VAN PATTEN: Let’s do it.

ANNA VAN PATTEN: I’ll ask you first.

GRACE: Okay.

ANNA: Do you believe in ghosts?

GRACE: Absolutely. Do you?

ANNA: Yes.

GRACE: Have you ever seen one?

ANNA: Well, I—

GRACE: Anna has night demons.

ANNA: I used to have really bad sleep paralysis where I was visited by the same demon. Remember her?

GRACE: She drew it, and it’s actually the scariest drawing you’ve ever seen. It’s like a lady with long fingers. Right?

ANNA: Yeah. [Laughs] She was like 10 feet tall and would stand in the corner. But I haven’t seen her in years because my room—

GRACE: Is haunted.

ANNA: Is a portal to hell.

GRACE: This is a great start. [Laughs] Next question.

ANNA: What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done in front of someone you were trying to impress?

GRACE: I have such a vivid memory of when I was—how old are you in kindergarten? Five?

ANNA: No idea.

GRACE: I tried to do a high kick in front of my first crush. I slipped and landed on my back, and he laughed.

ANNA: Aww.

GRACE: It was really embarrassing. What about you?

grace and anna van patten

Jacket Coach.

ANNA: In a similar vein, I remember being young and everyone was climbing this one tree. I was wearing a dress and I climbed way higher than everyone else, but then I slipped and fell, and my dress caught the branch. [Laughs]

GRACE: What?

ANNA: My underwear was showing, and they had to go get the parents. I was just hanging there for like five minutes.

GRACE: That reminds me of when my ankle got caught in the ring at Muscle Beach. I thought it would be cool to stick my legs in there and hang from my knees. When I was trying to get out, I got stuck, and I was just dangling from my ankle. [Laughs] We have so many stuck stories.

ANNA: Wait, where did I get stuck?

GRACE: When you were like 12 you got stuck in the kids’ swing, and we had to call the fire department. It was one of those swings that are shaped like a diaper. You got in and you couldn’t get out.

ANNA: [Laughs] Okay, what was your favorite game we played as a kid? I feel like we probably have—

GRACE: The same one. One, two, three:

ANNA & GRACE: Office.

GRACE: We’d role-play different positions in an office. Sometimes we were like a fashion—

ANNA: Office.

GRACE: We made business cards.

ANNA: And created drama within the office.

GRACE: Roxy Williams was my office alter ego. Who were you? Ashley?

ANNA: Ashley or Brittany. Something like that.

GRACE: Yeah.

ANNA: Ooh, who’s better at the RipStik? Me.

GRACE: This might cause a fight.

ANNA: Well, you have a blue RipStik, and I have a pink RipStik. And yours is a little more lived in—

GRACE: How about we leave it at equal?

ANNA: Okay. What’s a shared obsession you both have?

GRACE: A lot of things. But I feel like our love for—

ANNA: Perfume.

grace and anna van patten

Top, Bra, and Shorts Prada.

GRACE: We’re both obsessed with scents. And anchovies.

ANNA: Yeah.

GRACE: We hated them our entire lives, and then one meal, we both decided to try them.

ANNA: And now we love them.

GRACE: We eat them with everything.

ANNA: What perfume are you wearing right now?

GRACE: I’m wearing [L’Orchestre Parfum] Piano Santal. What are you wearing?

ANNA: I’ve been really into Daddy by Universal Flowering.

GRACE: Oh, yeah. So creative.

ANNA: It’s very smoky, earthy. It has wood in it, but I forget the exact notes.

GRACE: We have similar taste in scents.

ANNA: What’s something that never fails to make each other laugh?

GRACE: I’m not going to make you do it, but when you say “ciao” in that weird way.

ANNA: I think it’s from Hannah Montana.

GRACE: Or The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. [Laughs] Is there anything for you?

ANNA: Whenever you do impressions. When you lock into a character, you really commit to it.

GRACE: That’s true. Who takes longer to get ready? I think you.

ANNA: Probably. I like to take my time with hair and makeup, but you’ll change your outfit so many times.

GRACE: Yeah. What’s something you’ve stolen from my closet and never given back?

ANNA: There’s so much—

GRACE: It’s the only cause of our fights.

ANNA: Fist fights. [Laughs]

GRACE: I always take your pink silk, pink halter top with the bejewels.

ANNA: It’s surprising you even like that.

GRACE: I actually don’t know where it is. I haven’t worn it in a long time.

ANNA: I remember visiting you on location one day.

GRACE: And you found it in my suitcase.

ANNA: You had so many of my clothes in your closet.

GRACE: Sorry.

grace and anna van patten

Romper Gucci.

ANNA: What’s one thing I’m better at than you?

GRACE: Well, a lot, but most recently, Mario Kart. We had a tournament over the holidays—

ANNA: On GameCube.

GRACE: And you took the lead. Who’s the bigger control freak?

ANNA: Probably me.

GRACE: Really?

ANNA: If you are, you have a way better—

GRACE: Poker face?

ANNA: Yeah. When things are going wrong for me, it’s easy for everyone to see. I’ll start freaking out.

GRACE: Having a lack of control is really scary to me. Is it scary to you in the same way?

ANNA: I try to find beauty in having no control.

GRACE: Me too, but it’s hard.

ANNA: But when the things I can control are out of my control, that’s when I freak out.

GRACE: Exactly. I’m with you, sister. Okay. Who’s messier?

ANNA: Me.

GRACE: One thousand percent.

ANNA: But it’s a clean messy. I’m a clean freak.

GRACE: You are. You make your friends put on sweatpants to go into your room. [Laughs] What’s a phase I went through that you’re glad is over?

ANNA: I don’t know if I’m glad it’s over because it was fun while it lasted, but the hypebeast phase. You were waiting in the Supreme line.

GRACE: I did wait in the Supreme line.

ANNA: You were kind of a skater girl.

grace and anna van patten

On Grace Dress Fendi. On Anna Bra Fendi. Underwear Cou Cou Intimates.

GRACE: Yeah.

ANNA: You had the attitude, too. It was a little bitchy.

GRACE: It fit with the thing.

ANNA: So I guess I’m glad that’s over, but I wouldn’t mind the skinny jeans.

GRACE: Bring the skinny jeans back, leave the bitchiness.

ANNA: I found my old American Apparel high-waisted super skinny jeans and I wore them out for a walk around the block to see how I felt.

GRACE: And how did you feel?

ANNA: I immediately ran into our neighbors, and they started taking pictures, laughing at me. [Laughs]

GRACE: Oh, my god. Remember the shiny ones? Anna went through a phase where she only wore matching things and not colors, but prints—like Easter prints—pastels, everything matching. And no matter what, she had to have the highest, tightest bun.

ANNA: Yeah.

GRACE: Maybe you are the bigger control freak, because if you had a bump in your high bun, you would cry.

ANNA: It would be a nightmare. [Laughs]

GRACE: Okay. What’s a memory of us that you think about more than I’d expect?

Vest, Shirt, and Shorts Hermès.

ANNA: Do you have one?

GRACE: I do think about when we went to Miami for Ralph Lauren.

ANNA: Yeah!

GRACE: It was like the first time we went away together for something work-related, and the first time either of us had been to Miami.

ANNA: It was so much fun. It felt very adult, staying in a nice hotel and ordering room service and going out to a weird club restaurant.

GRACE: It was 48 hours, but it was so cute.

ANNA: A memory just popped into my head. Grace, when you first got your driver’s license in Florida, we drove around for so long—just around a two-block radius because you were scared to get onto major roads. And we listened to “I Want to Know What Love Is” probably like 50 times—

GRACE: In a row. Belting it. We rolled all the windows down. We thought we were so cool.

ANNA: Yeah.

GRACE: What’s something I don’t give myself enough credit for?

ANNA: You give such good advice and you’re just so emotionally independent.

GRACE: It’s crazy that it seems that way.

ANNA: Compared to everyone else, you’re very steady.

GRACE: Thanks, sister.

Apron, Bra, and Glasses Miu Miu.

ANNA: That was the first thing that came into my mind.

GRACE: Okay. I’ll go. What I admire is how unique and individual you are, and how nothing around you influences you.

ANNA: That’s so sweet.

GRACE: You’re your own person and confident in that.

ANNA: Thank you.

GRACE: You’re welcome. Okay. Last question.

ANNA & GRACE: Who’s better at keeping the other calm in a crisis?

ANNA: I feel like I am.

GRACE: I feel like it’s equal. I need you in a crisis. You need me in a crisis. We both keep each other calm. Right?

ANNA: I think so. I feel lucky that I haven’t been in a major crisis.

GRACE: But we both calm each other down.

ANNA: Totally.

GRACE: Equally. [Laughs] And that’s all.
