Sneaker heads with a taste for minimalism, take note. Rick Owens, high priest of leather, meticulous construction, and dispensing many a wise bon mot, delivered his take on next fall’s menswear in Paris today. While the future of 2014 is multi-textured and earth-toned, with a sci-fi-minded monastic cool, the footwear is about to take flight. Timed to the collection’s debut, Owens has also released the second installment of his ongoing footwear collaboration with athletic giant Adidas, parlaying the sleek, austere lines of stealth bomber craft into a new silhouette for the brand, the Tech Runner.
Constructed of suede and leather with an innovative neoprene fit, the shoe features a perforated riff on Adidas’ signature three stripes as well as Owens’ distinctive sawtooth profile. In keeping with the designer’s regimented aesthetic, the shoes will be rendered in unsaturated black, black/bone, milk, and milk/black iterations, with Owen’s signature on the heel strike. Get ready for take off.
THE RICK OWENS X ADIDAS TECH RUNNER WILL BE AVAILABLE IN MID-JULY, PRICED AT $790.
