Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Sutton Stracke Reviews The Season’s Hottest Fashions

The latest season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) has given us loyal viewers everything we could ask for — tears, fights, conversations about racism (a first for the show), legal battles, and of course, eye-popping fashion moments. One housewife in particular has made fashion moments her RHOBH mission: enter Sutton Stracke, the southern belle and socialite with a lifelong commitment to couture (which she traces back to a red velvet dress with porcelain buttons from her elementary school years), and a vocal dislike of leather pants. The sophomore cast member has quickly become a fan favorite, although not without a dose of controversy (but that’s part of the job, and she gets it). Stracke’s love of fashion piqued our interest, so as season 11 comes to an end tonight with its fourth hair-raising reunion episode (airing Wednesday, November 3 at 8pm ET/ 5 pm PT on Bravo), we couldn’t resist asking her to review some of the season’s hottest fashions —  from Givenchy and Miu Miu to Loewe and Fendace. Though she does love a runway moment, the soon-to-be lawyer has a message for her fellow fashion lovers: “Dress for yourself. It’s so important to buy responsibly and to not buy throw-away things. I’m trying to teach my daughter this.” Below, Miss Sutton gives us the lowdown on the season’s looks.

MIU MIU

“I wouldn’t wear this, because people would tell me to go home — they’d be like, “Sutton, no” — but the skirt is cute. It’s always about the bottom half — that’s [Miuccia Prada’s] thing — she’s very focused on the lower half of a woman’s body. I got to meet her actually. Everyone loves a good Met Gala story… Lizzie Tish, threw a party, and Miuccia was there and I got to chat with her for some time. She was very shy, but I can really chat. For some reason, she was taken with me and we really hit it off, she’s so lovely and very smart.”

PRADA

“It’s the grown-up version of Miu Miu. I have PTSD with the color yellow, because in the first season of Housewives I had to wear this color and when I see it I want to run because it scares me. It keeps haunting me. I’m obsessed with this jacket though, it’s so good, I want it. It’s quintessential Prada, it’s drawing your eye to the bottom half of the body again, which I think is so cool. And I like a good leg, so I love the whole look.”

BALENCIAGA

“I like the color, but I like the one on right better for me personally. I think it’s beautiful. I would wear this sparkly dress to a gala, which I used to go a lot to before the pandemic. I don’t dress up at home for fun, why would I do that? My children would be like, ‘What are you doing?!'”

DIOR

“I love Dior. I think Maria [Grazia Chiuri] is great. She loves to make a statement about feminism, and I’m liking where this collection is going… for a while it was almost angry. I love the orange bow and I like the black coat, it’s classic Dior. With being a feminist and her artistic side, she made all those statements she wanted to make, and I think it’s nice to see it settled down. I like both of these, but I’m a Dior girl. One time I was going to a Dior couture show, and a friend of mine didn’t go because she wasn’t sitting in the first row. I’m like, are you kidding me? It’s Dior couture, what do you care? I’ll sit in the corner.”

LOUIS VUITTON

“Not for me personally, I would not wear any of this. However, I do like the polka dots and the coat could be cool if we cut it off and made it shorter for me. It’s just not good for my body. I like looking at it, but I can’t wear it because I’m small, so I would look kind of crazy in this. But I also like to look at the hair and makeup and see what they’re doing, you have to look at everything. I’ve got a middle part going these days, so I’m digging the middle part. And I don’t like a lot of makeup.”

“I love this, I’m obsessed with it. I love her. It’s always so easy and chic.”

GIVENCHY

“I love Matthew Williams. I have some of his pieces from a long time ago and I love Givenchy. My only problem is that I cannot wear these boots–I have really skinny legs and they fall off. I’m not kidding. I was a ballet dancer and I could not wear leg warmers, they would fall down, it was like I needed a rubber band to hold them up. I wouldn’t be able to do this, but the grey piece is so good, I love it. I want to get a microscope and look at this orange thing, I love it. I think it’s so good. I would wear both of these in New York or Paris, but in L.A. people don’t really dress like this. It’s so fun, when I go to New York or Paris my wardrobe is different than when I go home to Georgia. I was just in New York last weekend and I have so much fun packing. I have clothes there that I keep in my apartment. When I go, I’m like, ‘Oh, I know you guys.’  It’s just fun.”

“The women in Paris don’t do a lot of stuff, they like it very simple– no fuss or a lot of makeup. They are simple but very chic. New York kind of pretends to be like Paris but they really juzz it up. The last time I went to Paris was in July when I took my daughter to school, I was so happy to be there. It was much calmer because of the pandemic and not as many tourists, plus it was couture week. There weren’t as many people at the stores and a lot of the shows were virtual, so it was a different week completely. And you could get a reservation, so that was cool.”

CAROLINA HERRERA

“I can’t believe this sleeve is back. I wore this pink sleeve for my high school prom. Here’s a Carolina Herrera story: I lived in New York for a long time and I went to St. Thomas More church on East 88th Street, and Carolina goes to that church. I would sit behind her on Sunday evenings. She wears a pantsuit and flats and she is impeccably dressed and her hair is perfect. Like, seriously, I don’t think there’s a hair out of place. She’s so beautiful and small. I would probably wear this pink dress, but people would make fun of me. I would shorten it a little bit, but not too short. I’d wear the black one in Paris, where people would understand what I was going for.”

FENDACE

“The black one looks like Versace, which I like. It looks young. I’d wear the black more than the blue, because why am I wearing a bikini top? I’m not doing that. I like the collaborations between brands, like the one between Gucci and Balenciaga, which is cool. I might have a little collaboration I’m working on right now that I think people are going to like. I’m not going to tell you what it is, but I think it’s going to be fun and it’s fashion-related.”

LOEWE

I’m obsessed. I was obsessed last year, I think it’s so good, so fresh, I love it all. I love it, love it, love it. I love the blue especially. Is it denim? I love it. I mean, the other one is a little off and strange, I wouldn’t wear it. I think it’s so good and he is so inventive. I would even wear this in L.A.”

SAINT LAURENT

“Okay, first of all, I don’t like that they dropped his first name. I mean, he’s probably pretty angry, the legacy. But if you want to look at these looks — the leather one, you know how I feel about that. I don’t like baggy leather, I think it looks sloppy. But you know, this is a cool look. I love the blazer because I like short things. I actually wore Saint Laurent at the reunion, the blue dress was Saint Laurent. I would wear this for sure, and the gloves are reminiscent of the color I wore. See, that’s how fashion forward I am.”
