PARIS FASHION WEEK
“Glamour Is Resistance”: On the Grounds at Jonathan Anderson’s Dior Womenswear Debut
WEDNESDAY 3:02 PM OCTOBER 1, 2025 PARIS
On Thursday afternoon, Jonathan Anderson made his Dior womenswear debut at Les Tuileries. After the show, we couldn’t help but wonder: who is the Dior woman in 2025? Our editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg enlisted a number of VIP guests—including Law Roach, Anya Taylor-Joy, Justin Vivian Bond, and Rosalía—to find out.

MEL OTTENBERG: Justin Vivian Bond. A Dior woman at last. It’s a statement. It’s not even a question. You look beautiful. What do we think about Dior? Who is she?
BOND: A glamorous woman. She’s serving it. You know the Dior mythology of persevering at all times, and then him honoring his sister who was in the resistance. That seems to be reverberating through to where we are now. I’m very thrilled that Jonathan is honoring me by allowing me to be here and making me feel so wonderful at a time when we’re getting so much shit in the U.S. And that’s what the Dior woman is supposed to feel like, glamorous resistance.
OTTENBERG: I was thinking of you a few times this week. It’s a sad time to be American, but I was remembering your glamorous resistance. It honestly helped me.
BOND: Good.
RYAN MCGINLEY: I’m just gonna interrupt this interview and give you both a hug.
OTTENBERG: Thank you for the hug.
BOND: That’s it. That’s what I think. Glamour is resistance.
OTTENBERG: Thank you.
MEL OTTENBERG: Hey Lyas. What are you doing, girl?
LYAS: I brought the invite and everything because I was so stressed. The people at La Watch Party are watching right now. Also, I never got invited to a Jonathan show at Dior before so it’s dear to my heart.
OTTENBERG: What’s the bag?
LYAS: Jonathan gave me a bag last season as a thank you for La Watch Party. So I had to bring it!
OTTENBERG: Okay! Bye.
MEL OTTENBERG: What’s the vibe?
EVER ANDERSON: I mean, the show was amazing. It’s giving classic Dior, but with a spin on it to make it modern. I could see anyone wearing these clothes, no matter the age, and I think that’s wonderful.
MEL OTTENBERG: Willow Smith and Anya Taylor-Joy. What is one quality that you wish you had more of today in Paris?
WILLOW SMITH: I just want more radical acceptance and unconditional love—
ANYA TAYLOR-JOY: Yes.
SMITH: Out into the world, and with everyone I see.
OTTEBERG: Anya?
TAYLOR-JOY: I wish I had more mischievousness. People need to play more games.
OTTENBERG: I like it when you play fashion games. The both of you.
MEL OTTENBERG: Rosalía! What’s up! Where we at?
ROSALÍA: Aye. We are at Dior. It was amazing. Besitos.
OTTENBERG: Bye, baby.
MEL OTTENBERG: What’s up Anna? How’s that hoop skirt?
ANNA SAWAI: It’s very comfortable.
OTTENBERG: Yeah?
SAWAI: And it has pockets. So very practical too.
OTTENBERG: You look great.
SAWAI: Thank you.
MEL OTTENBERG: Stephen. I think these are some of your best Dior hats. They’re phenomenal. What’s the vibe?
SUZY MENKES: Congratulations.
OTTENBERG: Wasn’t it incredible?
STEPHEN JONES: It was the original Dior bar hat to go with the bar suit. Which was black and not white.
MENKES: Can you do that again for me?
OTTENBERG: Yes, for Suzy Menkes of course you can do it again.
MEL OTTENBERG: Law! What’s up!
LAW ROACH: What’s up with what?
OTTENBERG: Who’s wearing what, Law?
ROACH: Who’s wearing what?
OTTENBERG: We’re at the Dior show, bitch. Who’s wearing what?
ROACH: Um. There’s a lot. It was absolutely incredible. And I love the way you can see the eras throughout the collection. I thought it was very beautiful of him to pay homage to everyone who came before him.
OTTENBERG: Yeah.
ROACH: From Mr. Dior all the way to Maria Grazia. I thought it was very tasteful and classy. You know?
OTTENBERG: I feel it. Which was the most Law Roach look for the girls?
ROACH: Um. I want some of that for myself.
OTTENBERG: Okay, we are talking about Law.
ROACH: I mean, there’s so many good things. There was Zendaya and Ari in there for sure. It was a great debut.
OTTENBERG: Yeah. He has real balls doing that show and making it that big and weird and cool. Oh, and Stephen Jones crushed the hats.
ROACH: The opening film was divine. It was a little twisted, and not Dior, but Jonathan. There was a mix between him and the house and it showed up in a really good way.
OTTENBERG: Word.
