From MCM’s conception in 1976, the luxury fashion brand found its place making lifestyle accessories for the jet setters and rule-breakers of Munich. With its new Spring/Summer 2024 collection, the German brand is tapping into its heritage. The cognac-colored collection of calf leather backpacks, cashmere cardigans, and logo-d out luggage is made for a new generation of digital nomads and thrill-seekers, and modern iconoclasts like actress Cara Delevingne and model Xu Meen are the figureheads of the MCM Mavericks movement. “I’ve long admired MCM for their bold and rebellious spirit,” says Delevingne, who’s bringing back the romance of travel draped in airport-luxe tailoring and refined vintage-inspired shapes. Feel like Dapper Dan (who has a Jeep covered in the brand’s monogram) in a leather crescent moon hat box emblazoned with the iconic Visetos logo and a hard-sided suitcase decorated with 24k gold plated hardware. It’s a nod to the brand’s birth during the Golden Age of Munich and its legacy of luxurious jet-setting garms and covetable carry-ons. Flight is not the only form of movement the collection champions—leather tennis cases, recycled nylon windbreakers, and canvas sneakers are giving sporty prep an upgrade, while comfy cashmere cardigans and a flashy monogrammed denim trench coat are perfect for stomping through the city. Behind the scenes, the collection’s loungy glamor is brought to life by creative rebels like Pat McGrath, Craig McDean, and Fabien Baron. MCM Mavericks are travelers inclined towards greater heights, and in the SS24 collection, they find a bold companion.
