PATTI SMITH and ISABELLE HUPPERT at METROGRAPH, LOWER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN

Last night, Metrograph, that downtown mecca for cineastes and tourists with taste, celebrated its 3rd birthday and the launch of its own studio, Metrograph Pictures. To fete the house that Alexander Olch built, a sea of downtown icons, A-list celebrities, walking Instagram personas, and gawky media-types crowded both floors of the theater, and its open bars, until the late hours. Being the latter group, Interview spotted Patti Smith passing at an offer of crudités, actress Isabelle Huppert holding court in a secluded corner of the commissary, and Griffin Dunne marveling at the dragon and drum dance that spilled out across the foyer. There was even a wigged-out party crash by our disruptive film contributor, and full-time social media scoundrel, The Ion Pack. Cheers to your Crystal Anniversary, Metrograph. —NATHAN TAYLOR PEMBERTON

JENNIFER LOPEZ at H&M, MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN

On the coattails of her much-publicized engagement to Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez went shopping with her 11-year-old daughter Emme on Wednesday. And though the couple may have hundreds of millions of dollars of net worth between the two of them, a stop at H&M — everyone’s favorite Swedish multinational brand for budget-friendly fast fashion — proved that Lopez is still Jenny from the Block. Wearing her best sale-sifting outfit, the singer hit up the store’s midtown location in a get-up that included Alexander McQueen platform sneakers and an $100,000 Hermès Birkin bag. Let’s hope she was able to snag some deals, and save some “Dinero.”

GIGI HADID and ANTONI POROWSKI at L’AVENUE at SAKS, MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN

The model and Queer Eye culinary expert were seen dining at Saks’ new Philippe Starck-designed Parisian restaurant L’Avenue this week. We can only hope there were avocados involved — and perhaps a spring cocktail?

GRETA GERWIG, NOAH BAUMBACH, and THEIR BABY at SOMEWHERE ON THE UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN

Indie film power couple Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have officially collaborated on yet another twee production: a baby. After being seen around what looks to be (and really only makes sense to be) the Upper West Side pushing a stroller on Tuesday, reps confirmed the news that the pair has welcomed their first child. No word yet on whether the child will star in any witty coming-of-age comedic dramas, but we hear a Lady Bird sequel is in the making…

BILL DE BLASIO, NOWHERE TO BE FOUND in NEW YORK

This will be the fifth weekend in a row where New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will leave town for Washington D.C. as part of his vaguely presidential progressive policy tour, which has included Iowa, Florida, South Carolina, and New Hampshire. New Yorkers are dumbfounded, to say the least, by the plausibility that de Blasio may join the pool of 2020 hopefuls. In a Quinnipiac University poll published Thursday, de Blasio received the lowest approval rating from New Yorkers of all the potential Democratic candidates: 52 percent. Chin up, de Blasio; at least there’s one guy in the race New Yorkers hate more.
