Dark sounds reflect their dark names: Snow Ghosts, who wrote the song; Blue Daisy, who’s featured on it; and Dahlia Black, who remixed it. Intense synthesizers create a sinister atmosphere, which is only enhanced by deep and electronic vocals. Snow Ghosts —the collaboration between Ross Tones and Hannah Cartwright, known better as Throwing Snow and Augustus Ghost, respectively—is not for the lighthearted listener. The music is haunting and awakening, wintry and nomadic.
In July 2013, Snow Ghosts released their well-received debut LP, A Small Murmuration. The album featured slow, mesmerizing tracks as well as upbeat, drum and bass. Today the band is releasing a remix EP Secret Garden, which will feature the track from their original album. However, in addition to this worldwide remix release, we are pleased to offer an exclusive remix of their song “Covenant” here.
“The general vibe and innate darkness has been retained, but it’s been flipped into a different context,” Tones says of the remix. “It’s gone from home listening to the dance floor, and this only worked because the lyrical emphasis changed.”
Dahlia Black of Hey!Zeus and Blue Daisy, who is featured in the track, remixed “Covenant.” While we are offering a bit of Goth drum and bass, the Secret Garden EP promises far more melodic—although still electronic—tracks.
