“Need a Martini ASAP”: Charli XCX Brought Her Camera to TIFF

Last Thursday, Charli XCX kicked off her actor era at the Toronto International Film Festival. First, it was the premiere of Erupcja, the highly-improvised indie she made with Jeremy O. Harris and director Peters Ohs about a girl who goes on a romantic trip to Warsaw with her boyfriend, only to have it thrown off course when she reconnects with a childhood friend. She followed that up with the Saturday night premiere of Sacrifice, the Roman Gavras-directed satire about a group of radicals who storm a charity event. To mark the moment, Charli busted out her brand new camera and photographed her friends, co-stars, and collaborators, just for us.

slept terribly but it’s ok coz i’ll sleep when im dead. doing glam for the Erupcja premiere. this was a film we made in poland directed by Pete Ohs. love you Pete.

met up with my co stars and co writers jeremy o harris and lena gora. when making the film we all got together each day, sat with each other in the morning, wrote scenes and then immediately afterwards shot what we wrote. the film making process felt spontaneous. kind of like a painting.

didn’t sleep much but the next day my baby brother jonatan “yung lean” leandoer arrived. i call him this because this is how he’s credited in the movie we’re both in, Sacrifice. the film premieres the next day so for now we’re just getting silly coz they put us on the same floor in the same hotel.

linked up with valter, jonatan’s manager and went to a bar to meet the rest of the cast and crew of sacrifice.
