“The Theme Is Festival It Girl”: Dara Reviews Burberry SS26

As fashion weeks heads across the pond to London, we’re trading our stars and stripes for a Union Jack. And who better to kick off LFW than Burberry, the patron saint of British fashion houses? Daniel Lee’s SS26 collection, inspired by the enduring connection between fashion and music and taking place at Perks Field in Kensington Palace, used fringed leather and crochet tops to transport us to Glastonbury. As she said in our post-show questionnaire, Interview fashion director Dara was gagging over the tarot scarves, patchwork bags, and guest appearances from Elton John and Vanessa Williams, who’s currently starring on the West End as Miranda Priestley. It looks like the devil wears Burberry, too.

Where are you? LONDON BABY.
How did you get here? Flewed out for the Burberry show.
Who are you pretending to be? Isabella Blow.
What’s today’s theme? The show set is a dirt field under a tent of blue skies and dreamy clouds. The theme is Festival It Girl.
What’s keeping you going? The champagne Burberry left in my room.
How long did it take you to get ready? I stay ready.
What’s the best part of your outfit? Long sheer skirt with a high slit. It’s fab.
Do fashion shows make you nervous? It’s why I wear sunglasses and strong shoulders.
Are you good at small talk? Today I feel especially bad because I spent the whole day bed-rotting in my hotel room and haven’t talked to another soul. Thank god I found my sis Yasmin Wijnaldum. We walked around awkwardly, hoping pre-show nerves would get better. It didn’t!
What’s the most embarrassing thing in your bag? The fact that there’s nothing in it.
What did the show remind you of? My high school haircut moodboard. Alexa Chung at Glastonbury. Kate Moss at Glastonbury too. Real Brit vibes.
Who caught your eye? Sir Elton John! Vanessa Fucking Williams. Legends. Wait, they’re both 90s Disney Musical legends. Sorry to be a Disney adult. Also, Hi Tom Blyth!!
If you could steal one piece from the collection, what would it be? The skinny scarf with tarot cards on it.
Where are you going in those runway shoes? Drinking game. How many times did I say Glastonbury?
What was the bag situation? There was a gorg leather patchwork, olive chartreuse and pink in a pixelated Burberry check. Pretty nasty fab. Big sack chic.
What are you doing tonight? I’m supposed to go to the after-party but I might just hit room service.
What time are you going to bed? Early, I hope. Jet lag chopped me last night.
Who is the winner of fashion week? Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer.
