“It is such an honor,” said rising menswear star Simon Spurr of his nomination for the 2010 CFDA Swarovski Award. “It really takes our brand to a new platform.” Spurr and fellow nominees, Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra, mingled with Nadja Swarovski over a casual breakfast beneath a dazzling chandelier at the crystal designer’s Midtown Creative Center before heading over to Bergdorf Goodman to see the bejeweled window boasting their designs, which were custom-made for the occasion. This is the ninth year Swarovski has sponsored the event, which will award the menswear, womenswear and accessories designers of the year at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center on June 7.

“It’s gonna be glittery,” said Altuzarra, in anticipation of the unveiling of the window display. And so it is. Inspecting the tuxedo he made for the window, a duplicate of which actor Zachary Quinto will wear to the awards, Spurr, who launched his collection in Bergdorf’s, said approvingly, “We’ve got people on the inside. They know how I like it to be pinned, nice and tight.”
