Last Thursday, OMEGA gathered a cast of creatives and watch enthusiasts to celebrate the evolution of their iconic Aqua Terra timepiece. Over champagne at the brand’s Boston flagship and dinner at the ICA, the Swiss watchmaker debuted its new 30mm Aqua Terra collection—twelve sleek references reimagined with a smaller face and in keeping with OMEGA’s legacy of innovative women’s watchmaking. In attendance was Dylan Efron, the Traitors fan favorite and avid rock climber who joined me between bites of dinner and glimpses at his new timepiece to take a peek at his feature in our recent Summer 2025 issue. While we were at it, he also shared his thoughts on the new Traitors cast, his workout routine, and why the watch stays on during sex: “It’s not worth taking off and putting it back on a couple minutes later,” he explained. “It’s too quick.”

EMILY SANDSTROM: Dylan Efron, what time is it?
EFRON: Let me check my watch. 9:53 PM.
SANDSTROM: It’s 9:53. Thanks for joining us. It’s so nice to meet you. Are you a punctual guy?
EFRON: I wish, but I would be lying if I said I was.
SANDSTROM: It’s good to be honest.
EFRON: One of my really close friends in high school, he’s always on time and he’d always say, “It’s a sign of respect.” And I respect him so much for it. But that’s just not me. I am constantly late.
SANDSTROM: Does it bother you when other people are late?
EFRON: No, I understand it. I live in L.A., we’ve got the traffic.
SANDSTROM: You’re on California time.
EFRON: I’m on California time everywhere I go.
SANDSTROM: How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
EFRON: What I’ve learned from tracking my sleep is if you think you get eight hours, it’s actually seven.
SANDSTROM: Oh, interesting.
EFRON: There’s an hour of just restlessness or whatever. You can get really good sleep on short sleep, but I’d say I average eight-and-a-half hours, probably. I like to sleep.
SANDSTROM: Well, everyone wants to know what your workout routine is.
EFRON: [Laughs]
SANDSTROM: Let’s hear it.
EFRON: I’ve been working out since high school, so I know most of the moves. I know proper form and I just switch it up. I’ll get into a groove where I’m trying to bulk, and if I haven’t worked out in a while, I’ll start lifting heavy, and then do five by fives. If I’ve worked out a lot, then I start moving into mobility and trying to get agile. I just try to do whatever’s fun. And as long as I’m doing something active every day, I’m happy.
SANDSTROM: And rock climbing, would you say it’s the biggest part of your routine or is that just skewed by my experience of you in the magazine?
EFRON: No, that’s just a hobby I love. I also play beach volleyball, that’s a great workout. And I play tennis too.
SANDSTROM: What do you think of the new Traitors cast?
EFRON: I love it. It’s so good.
SANDSTROM: It’s kind of the biggest show right now.
EFRON: No. Love Island‘s the biggest show.
SANDSTROM: That’s true. But Traitors is huge.
EFRON: Yeah, I’m excited for the new cast. This next season, they’re going to keep getting better and better. The show’s going to get improved. I think the challenges are going to get better. The gameplay is going to be completely different from our season, so I am really excited for it.
SANDSTROM: Any honorable mentions of the new cast?
EFRON: I’m really excited for the Love Island people. So, more [Maura] Higgins and Rob Rausch. If either of them are Traitors, they’re both going to be amazing. I hope at least one is.
SANDSTROM: Do you like styling yourself?
EFRON: Yeah, definitely. My style’s always changing, but comfort has always been huge for me. The skinny pants, raw denim stuff has never been my thing.
SANDSTROM: Because you’re a California guy.
EFRON: Yes, exactly. I like stuff that I can go and do a high kick and karate chop in. I want to be able to run somewhere really quick. So I love the looser fitting stuff. And then a tapered look, something that shows my height and stuff like that.
SANDSTROM: Something that keeps you mobile.
EFRON: Yeah, put me in a tank top. Something light. Linen pants.
SANDSTROM: And how do you like the new watch? Do you have it on right now?
EFRON: Yeah, I’ve got it on right now.
SANDSTROM: Wait, let’s see it.
EFRON: I love it because it’s a small face. I think it’s 34.
SANDSTROM: Gorgeous.
EFRON: And I’ve got pretty small wrists, so I don’t like when I have a huge bulky watch. I’ve always liked the smaller face, so this one’s great.
SANDSTROM: Were you a big watch guy before?
EFRON: No, I’m new-ish. I’ve always been a minimalist. Someone could come rob my house and they’re not going to get anything. Everything I have is replaceable, so I love that. Maybe my camera, but I always have that with me.
SANDSTROM: Are you like, a GoPro guy?
EFRON: Yeah, but now I use a nice Sony A1 mostly. I don’t have very many expensive things that I need to insure. I like the freedom of not feeling like that’s weighing me down. In college, of course I wasn’t going to have a really expensive watch. But I get hooked on different passions, and when I started to meet people who were really passionate about watches, it opened up a whole other world to me.
SANDSTROM: That’s fun.
EFRON: I started learning about them and doing Reddit deep dives about vintage watches. Anything that you can invest your brain power and become a new passion, I’m here for it. So I’m starting my collection. It’s so funny because it’s one of those things where someone could be really adamant like, “Oh, you don’t wear a two-tone watch because it’s going to lose its value.” But maybe one person’s like, “No, that’s my favorite watch in the world.” It’s all subjective at the end of the day, but you can also learn from it. It’s really cool. The more you learn, the more you get into it.
SANDSTROM: Awesome. Do you consider yourself a sex symbol?
EFRON: [Laughs] A sex symbol? I don’t know. I don’t personally think I’m a sex symbol, but Traitors has made some people think that. And it’s good for my ego.
SANDSTROM: Does the watch stay on during sex?
EFRON: [Laughs] It’s not worth taking off and putting it back on a couple minutes later. It’s too quick.
SANDSTROM: A couple minutes!
EFRON: It’s just too much of a hassle. You leave that on.
SANDSTROM: What is time well-spent for you?
EFRON: Time well-spent for me is normally in the real world. I’m not on a screen, I’m not indoors. I’m somewhere in the physical world and present. That’s why I love nature. That’s why I’m always outdoors.
SANDSTROM: Nice. What’s next for you?
EFRON: I have some fun stuff I can’t talk about yet. And I’ve been trying to also come up with some show ideas that I would love to shoot, whether they’re on YouTube, whether they’re on a network–
SANDSTROM: Like, reality-based?
EFRON: Unscripted. And then also I’ve gotten into acting a little bit too, so I started doing auditions. That’s been really fun. I’d love to be in a rom-com. I know I’m not great yet, but if I get a coach, I can figure it out.
