The name Bobby Brackins might not be immediately recognizable on its own, but when paired with Tinashe or Nicki Minaj or any of the other hugely successful artists Brackins writes for, it certainly strikes a more-than-familiar chord. Brackins, however, is more than a ghostwriter behind radio hits, the rapper/songwriter has a powerful voice of his own. Here we’re pleased to premiere “Faithful,” Brackins’ latest single from his forthcoming solo EP …To Live For. The instantly catchy song features Ty Dolla $ign and production by Nic Nac, yet upon considering the lyrics (“She don’t want commitment / She up in the club / She just want a baller to show her some love … And she got you at home tryna be faithful), one realizes that it serves as an antithesis of its title.

“‘Faithful’ was derived from going out and seeing people who are in relationships but neglect that fact when someone more intriguing in around,” Brackins explains. “We actually made the song around the same time as when we did ‘Loyal.’ That was just the wave I was on at the time; my past two relationships had rough endings.”

Whether it’s played when pre-gaming at an apartment or in a car en route to the party, the song is the perfect way to start your weekend. “Ty put the icing on the cake,” Brackins says. “We’ve been making music together since ‘Toot It and Boot It’ and ‘143.’” Brackins’ first experience touring was with Ty Dolla $ign , and in 2011 the two created the mixtape Young and Hungover. “He’s my buddy and he’s mad talented. I’m glad we got to connect again on this one,” Brackins continues. Produced entirely by Nic Nac and RedWine, …To Live For will also feature the likes of G-Eazy, Mila J, and Austin Mahone, among others. “Nic Nac and I have also been making music together for over 10 years. It’s a blessing to be able to work on music with people who you came up with years down the line.”
