Indie Rocker Miya Folick Can Cry to Any Song on This Playlist

This is SOUND ADVICE, a weekly destination for playlists curated by Interview’s friends, enemies, and lovers. Over the past few weeks, we’ve gathered playlists by Rick Owens, Daniel Fisher, a.k.a. Physical Therapy, and The Papi Juice Collective. This week, we talk to indie musician Miya Folick, whose latest album Roach tells a gut-wrenching tale of resilience. With songs like “Bad Thing” (co-written by Mitski) and “Cockroach,” Folick’s music is inventive, honest, and perfect for dancing (or screaming alone in your bedroom). For Interview, the artist put together a very vibey and ethereal playlist, featuring some of her more niche favs, including Olivia Kaplan, and answered our questionnaire, declaring Rosalía “mother” and Joni Mitchell the world’s greatest lyricist.
