“Pop Music All Day”: Heidi Montag on Paparazzi, Fame & TV Villains

FRIDAY 9:29 PM JUNE 27, 2025 LOWER EAST SIDE
This past Pride weekend, Heidi Montag stormed the Lower East Side for her first-ever live show in the city. But before taking the stage at The Box, she invited us into her green room for a little pregame: glam, champagne and her husband, Spencer Pratt. At a private event for Sephora and HausLabs, a trio of topless dancers introduced Montag, who played hits from her new album, Heidiwood (including the viral “I’ll Do It,” ) while a gaggle of gays—and Spencer, of course—screamed along to every lyric. It was a far cry from her days planning parties on The Hills, but she’s still the undeniable star of the show—sorry LC. Afterwards, Montag joined us in the back alley to model our brand-new Interview lighters and talk fame, redemption, and becoming a pop girl.

ALEX WEISS: How has it felt being back on stage again?
HEIDI MONTAG: It’s been incredible to get back on stage. It’s something I didn’t see coming in the future, so it’s nice to be able to embrace that moment in my career that I always dreamed of.
WEISS: Pop girls are having such a major moment right now. Who would you love to collaborate with?
MONTAG: I would love to collaborate with Zara Larsson. She’s my goal. But any of them, all of them. I’m available!
WEISS: What’s your favorite song to play to get the dancefloor going?
MONTAG: I think “Harder” by Heidi Montag. [Laughs] That’s a good one.
WEISS: What’s the most underrated Heidi song from the vault?
MONTAG: I think “Turn Ya Head” is one of the most underrated songs from the vault. Cathy Dennis wrote it, and she wrote “Toxic” for Britney Spears, and it’s an incredible song.
WEISS: What genre of music is your favorite?
MONTAG: Pop music all day, all the way.
WEISS: Would you ever go back to reality TV or be a Housewife?
MONTAG: I would not be a Housewife, but I would definitely go back to reality TV in a pop-star capacity.
WEISS: What do you think about everyone using TikTok these days to be their own voice, instead of when you were coming up and didn’t really get to talk for yourself?
MONTAG: It’s amazing that people have their own narratives these days. Before, you were just part of the machine, and unless you had an interview with US Weekly or People Magazine, Good Morning America, these very curated platforms, there was no other voice that could be heard. So it’s an incredible opportunity for creators and for musicians and everyone out there.
WEISS: Okay, we only have a few more minutes before you have to get on stage. Let’s do a rapidfire Rorschach Test.
MONTAG: Let’s do it.
WEISS: Fame?
MONTAG: Is a loaded gun.
WEISS: Les Deux?
MONTAG: Spencer.
WEISS: Crystals?
MONTAG: Spencer.
WEISS: Paparazzi?
MONTAG: Y2K.
WEISS: Reality TV villains?
MONTAG: Omarosa.
WEISS: Redemption arcs?
MONTAG: Spencer Pratt.
WEISS: Pride?
MONTAG: So much fun. It’s such a blessing. Just the best time of the year.
WEISS: Being a pop girl.
MONTAG: My dream.
WEISS: Thank you so much.
MONTAG: Thank you.
