Welcome to SOUND ADVICE, Interview’s weekly destination for playlists curated by our friends, enemies, and lovers. In recent weeks, we’ve featured playlists from LSDXOXO, Allie X, and Bugonia composer Jerskin Fendrix. This week, we hand the aux to Copenhagen-based It Girl Maya Laner, former bassist for Caroline Polachek and alum of the synth-pop band Porches. Last month, under the moniker True Blue, her solo alter-ego, she ditched the bass for the dance floor. Though she’s previously dropped singles like “I Wanna Believe,” “Truest of Blues,” and a Cocteau Twins cover, Star Witness, her first full-length, makes for her most complete vision yet. Naturally, we wanted to known what she’s listening to these days, so we asked Laner to make us a playlist (below) and answer a few-burning questions, such as: who’s the Queen of Pop? And what are you wearing for the apocalypse?
