Before Spike Fearn Blows Up, He’d Like a Bike Ride and a Bao Bun
Before a string of upcoming movies that could change everything, the rising actor Spike Fearn is focused on life’s simpler pleasures.

What time do you wake up?
I tell myself I’m a morning person…
What’s your summer about?
This summer, the World Cup.
What does it feel like to be you?
That’s a super hard question. I’m enjoying it, though I don’t know what it’s like to be anyone else.
What’s on your mind?
Tiramisu, bicycles, and Australia.
What’s the last thing you cooked?
I burnt some chicken earlier.
What are you running from?
I’m not running from anything. Just doing a lot of running for a movie right now.
What do you do when you’re nervous?
I get nervous a lot, but I’m told that means you care. I try to tune it out, listen to some music, and turn the nerves into adrenaline.
What’s a hill you’ll die on?
That north London is the best part of London.
What doesn’t make sense?
I’d love a chat with Christopher Nolan about Inception.
What do you love?
A great risotto.
Who do you miss?
I used to travel around the U.K. with my grandparents when I was younger. I miss them a lot.
What’s your favorite taste?
Hard to pick just one. I eat way too many red apples. And kiwi. I love kiwi.
What’s your greatest temptation?
I’ve been cutting weight for an upcoming film, which has made me realize how addictive sugar is.
What are you allergic to?
I haven’t worked it out yet, either dust or wool.
Who makes you happy?
Alicia MacDonald.
How do you get around?
That depends on the journey.
What’s the last thing you bought?
Some Greek yogurt and an apple. These questions are making me realize I’m quite food-oriented.
What happens when you die?
I’m cool with that being a mystery. I just hope I’m happy with what went on down here.
What do you drink too much of?
Coffee.
What do you do with a free day?
Wake up and go on a bike ride, then see who’s about. Maybe I’ll go watch a film, grab a bao bun or something. The best part about a free day is not having a plan to follow.
What are you ignoring?
I try not to read reviews.
What are you ready to let go of?
I have to say, I think I have a pretty healthy relationship with letting things go. When it’s time to move on, I never really dwell on it too much. I’m always thinking about what’s next, you know?
