Quoted: Anna Wintour on Irving Penn

Last night, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, along with European editor-at-large Hamish Bowles, gave a lecture at the Pratt Institute in honor of Irving Penn, who died this past October. Of her relationship with the late photographer, who she called “one of the most important artists of the 21st century,” Wintour explained: “I had to work out my own relationship with Irving, and it took quite a while. We had a different kind of rapport. It was more like a date. He was a seductive guy and I certainly had an intellectual crush on him.”
