Youtuber Duo Slushy Noobz Can’t Escape the Bit
For many, the gamer guy archetype likely conjures up a pretty damning mental image: a lone figure sitting in a dark room for hours on end, face illuminated by the glow of their monitor. Viewers never see them leave their room, let alone the lower half of their body. But YouTube duo Slushy Noobz—composed of Canadian content creators Hamzah and Martin—are smashing that stereotype to smithereens. In fact, the pair are almost never not outside, whether livestreaming a two-hour wrestling match complete with all the pre-fight buildup, cosplaying as a hyperrealistic Elphaba and Glinda, taking a bungee-jumping workout class in tight neon leotards, or walking around Comic Con high on shrooms. Part comedians, part gamers, part vloggers, in just 3 years, the friends and their surrealist humor have built a rabid Gen-Z following over 3 million strong. You might say that Slushy Noobz is currently on a generational run. As Martin and Hamzah embark on their streaming tour across Canada, we hit them up to dish on Minecraft, mukbangs, memes, and Ellen DeGeneres in this week’s installment of Search History.

SOFI CISNEROS: Hi Martin and Hamzah!
MARTIN: Good morning.
HAMZAH: Hello 👋😊
SOFI: Welcome to search history :)) How’s tour going??
HAMZAH: Pretty awesome not gonna lie.
MARTIN: Thanks for having us.
SOFI: Omg of course. Ok to get started: A/S/L?
MARTIN: 27, male and right now i’m in PEI.
HAMZAH: 24, male and in pei as well.
SOFI: Fabulous. What’s the first thing each of you do when you wake up in the morning?
MARTIN: The first thing I do is make my bed, shower, meditate and touch grass. Lol jk I scroll on my phone but I wish.
HAMZAH: I usually plug in my phone because it’s probably dead because I play brown noise to sleep. 😴
SOFI: I was about to say how wellness-coded of you Martin. But both of those are so real. What are each of your last three Google searches?
MARTIN:

SOFI: How many tries did it take you to get the wordle?
MARTIN: I got it in 3 today.
HAMZAH:

SOFI: What words have q and x???
HAMZAH: I’ve been playing Crossplay it’s like online scrabble. I cheated a little I was going against the computer tho.
SOFI: Ahhh gotcha. Very linguistics-centered search histories love it. What’s in your system right now?
MARTIN: We both ate toe in a hole.
SOFI: 🤨
HAMZAH: Toad 😭
SOFI: Right right.
HAMZAH: It’s like an egg in a cut out circle of toast, then sausage on the side with coffee and apple juice. Also had some fruit.
SOFI: Delicious. Can each of you send a fit pic?

SOFI: Love the Nettspend plug. Also Hamzah I’d be remiss not to tell you I’m ordering an Ellen hoodie bc of you. Like it’s kinda genius.
HAMZAH: Hahaha I love that hoodie. I feel I’m as complex of a person as Ellen sometimes…
MARTIN: Here i’ll send it, Hamzah’s phone is bugging out.
HAMZAH: Omg Martin’s slow ass phone.

SOFI: Amazing. Ok which couple is more likely to win Fortnite IRL: Mandy and Martin or Hamzah and Claire?
MARTIN: Hamzah and Claire. Mandy can’t play many games she gets motion sickness.
HAMZAH: Oh Claire is nasty I think she’d carry me to a dub.
SOFI: I can deffff see this.
MARTIN: By IRL do you mean killing each other with guns… What’s this interview about?
SOFI: Hmmm let’s say nerf guns! I don’t wanna get cancelled. Already endorsing Ellen smh.
HAMZAH: I support gay rights and wrongs.

SOFI: What’s the hardest each of you have ever committed to the bit?
MARTIN: There are no bits. Bits are for pussies. Censor that if you need to.
SOFI: Lmao I should’ve known. The line between bit and reality does not exist for you two.
HAMZAH: Probably training for the boxing match. Was like 8 months.
MARTIN: True, training was insane. i gained 30 pounds.
HAMZAH: I lost 250 pounds. I mean 25.
SOFI: Sorry got kicked out of our conference room. Oh my god I remember watching that and thinking that that had to be peak Slushy bit commitment.
HAMZAH: This is our conference room rn:

SOFI: If you could pick anyone dead or alive to stream with who would it be and why?
MARTIN: I would like to stream with Leonardo Da Vinci.
SOFI: I feel like Leonardo would get the hang of it pretty fast.
HAMZAH: I would stream with Johnny Jamberie or Norm MacDonald.
SOFI: Johnny Jamberie is such a deep cut. I think the whole internet is obsessed with your makeovers into different characters. Who do you wanna larp as next?
MARTIN: Making our own wrestling personas.
HAMZAH: I want to do covers of the songs from Daisy Jones and the Six.
MARTIN: 👎
SOFI: Singing reveal soon Hamzah??
HAMZAH: [Sends 16-second singing clip].
HAMZAH: I don’t know if you can put that in the interview but yeah I’m not shy about it.
SOFI: I’ll work it out with IT. The people need to hear. [We could not work it out with IT].
SOFI: What would each of your death row mukbangs be?
MARTIN: I would [eat] a bunch of vegetables, so then when I die they will all say I was a good boy for eating my vegetables.
HAMZAH: Wagyu steak, cold canned tangerines, cheesestick, mashed potatoes, rootbeer float with vanilla ice cream.
SOFI: Leaving a legacy of health I see. Not sure I can say the same for Hamzah.
SOFI: What’s the last meme each of you screenshotted?
MARTIN: I made my own meme, this was in my uber:

SOFI: Martin that’s terrifying
HAMZAH: This is the guy from nfr as Travis Scott I think:

SOFI: I will be saving these for the appropriate convos. Most cursed Omegle interaction you’ve had?
HAMZAH: We’ve seen some pretty awful stuff so you want the truth lol?
MARTIN: Stay away from Omegle.
SOFI: Yes the people wanna know!
HAMZAH: [REDACTED]
MARTIN: Yeah, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’re just really honest.
SOFI: Oh no, okay moving swiftly on! What’s the most Canadian thing about each of you?
MARTIN: I have the accent. And I hate wearing shoes indoors like why do you guys do that?
SOFI: Okay I hate that too but I’m Asian so I was raised not to do that.
MARTIN: Beautiful.
HAMZAH: I say no worries a lot and washroom instead of bathroom, which I find very Canadian.
MARTIN: We’re both very polite too.
SOFI: Lovely. Okay last question: creative or survival?
MARTIN: Survival because creative is too easy and doesn’t prepare you for life.
HAMZAH: Survival all day.
