Florence’s Pitti Uomo debuted Trussardi 1911’s Fall 2011 menswear collection today, celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Italian fashion house. Primarily a story of supple leathers, the runway show featured some more eclectic pieces—black leather pants fashioned into serious knee-pads lent an almost medieval edge, and a leather T-shirt was softened into an undergarment for heavier layering. The manipulation of the material may not be anything new, but between style and function, Trussardi is giving “Made in Italy” a whole other dimension.
