ROME!
Lily Allen on Slags, Sequins, and Valentino FW26

Went to Rome for the Valentino show. It was in Palazzo Barberini in Rome that I believe Mr. Valentino had many an event in. The show was great. Lily Allen performed at the after party, but before that she gave me a quick review of the collection.

MEL OTTENBERG: What’s a slag?
LILY ALLEN: I don’t know, Lynette would be the best person to ask that question to, wouldn’t you Lynette?
LYNETTE NYLANDER: *Winks* Slag is a mindset. It’s a way of being.
ALLEN: It’s a community.
NYLANDER: It’s a community, and it’s global. You know if you’re in it. You don’t have to ask for an invitation.

OTTENBERG: Am I a slag?
ALLEN: [Laughs] Yes.
NYLANDER: Supremo. Yes.

OTTENBERG: Ok, cool. *Zooms into Lily’s outfit* Is this slag? Ok, Lily is wearing this custom look on our tour, and she has it on now. It’s very sensible.
ALLEN: [Laughs] It’s not really that sensible.
OTTENBERG: Lily, what did you think of the show? It was kind of amazing?

ALLEN: I thought it was major. The purple and the pink were major. The lace tops with all the sequins and the diamonds… I thought all the accessories were giving. And I liked the butterflies on the shoes. What else? The dual tones, with the like stitched in, belted situations were really cool. And the big shoulders…
OTTENBERG: Yeah.
ALLEN: We love a big shoulder. Honestly, I was kind of living for it all.

OTTENBERG: I was living for it all too. You know, the teal colored fur was good.
ALLEN: That was.
OTTENBERG: Any final thoughts, Lily Allen?
ALLEN: You know what, I did appreciate the extended seated silence at the end. It was like we were forced to sit there and gather our thoughts. Everyone was a little bit antsy, and I think Alessandro was like, “You guys just chill your beans and think about what you’ve seen.”
