Most Wanted: Huishan Zhang Lace-Insert Shirtdress

Published August 4, 2014

Central Saint Martins-trained Huishan Zhang is garnering attention across the pond for his effortless, East-meets-West designs, zeroing in on traditional silhouettes with a sexy, seductive twist. Take the above silk-blend crêpe de Chine shirtdress as a prime example. The usually modest long-sleeve shirtdress design—just grazing the knees and with a spread collar—is reminiscent of Sunday school or job interview demureness. But the intricately crafted netted lace cutouts at the bodice, doubled with the fabric-lined buttons that line the middle of the garment, create an undeniably saucy look that will easily provoke envious glances in the nighttime. All that’s missing are black kitten heels, a cigarette holder, and bright red lipstick for a modern take on the salon aesthetic. Priced at $1670 and available for preorder online at Barneys.
