Lourdes Leon Shows Us What’s Inside Her Fendi Baguette

“Obviously, as a lady, I always carry an evening purse,” says Lourdes “Lola” Leon as she rummages through her arctic blue leather and shearling Fendi Baguette. Ever since that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie Bradshaw gave an armed robber a lecture on the it-bag, its silhouette has become an immortal piece of fashion and pop culture history. To celebrate 25 years of the Baguette, Fendi has re-released the handbag in a variety of hues and finishes. The two photographed here house the secrets to a day in the life of Miss Lola: dancer, model, choreographer, musician, and Madonna’s firstborn who’s become a Downtown New York fixture, not unlike the women who first popularized the Baguette a quarter-century ago. After forays into dance and modeling, Leon recently released Go, her debut EP executive produced by close friend Eartheater and released under the stage name “Lolahol.” The sultry record marks a new era in Leon’s trajectory as an artist, one where she’s in full control of her art, forging a path that’s sonically distinct from her mother. In between music release parties and secret projects, the singer found a New York minute to visit the Interview offices and reveal what’s inside her Fendi Baguette, from the remnants of nights out to reinforcements for when the munchies hit.

IPHONE

Of course, the most important thing in all of our lives, my phone. This device allows me to contact my friends and family just like that. You wouldn’t believe how fast it goes. My phone case says “slay,” just a constant reminder, a daily affirmation type of thing.

CREDIT CARDS WRAPPED IN HEADPHONES

For some reason, I always lose my wallets, but I never lose the contents of my wallet. I just lose the wallet itself. So these trusty and reliable headphones are what’s keeping these things together.

HOUSE KEYS

Also extremely important: keys. You can’t get inside your house without them, actually. So you need to have these.

WEED

This is a bag of Good Jattic. If you don’t know what it is, then you don’t really need to know.

FRUIT GUSHERS

If you smoke weed, you like candy, and you can’t tell me otherwise. These are gushers, which are my favorite candy. My favorite flavor are the new sour ones that just came out. This is a necessity. Even when you’re tired, some candy will pick you right up.

LIP LINER AND LIP GLOSS

If you know me, you know I’m a lip gloss and lip liner girl. Sometimes your shit gets messy and you’ve got to touch it up.

NAIL GLUE

This is arguably the most important thing in my bag. This is nail glue. Because, if you use your hands a lot like me, sometimes that shit just pops off and it’s embarrassing, walking around with nine claws but missing my pointer finger. It doesn’t look good.

ONE STRAY NAIL

I don’t remember where this fell off. But it must have been a good night.

MY ROOMMATE’S ZINE

This is a zine that my best friend and roommate made. It’s a bit gay. He also art-directed the cover of my EP.

AIR BAR

Last but not least, this damn thing. I am a nicotine addict. But I kind of stopped smoking cigarettes because they literally smell so fucking bad. And I know this is really un-chic, and kind of déclassé, but this is what I’m on right now. It’s cool mint. And it’s out of battery. This is actually terrible, though. Don’t ever start smoking this because you won’t stop. And then you’re going to be tearing your apartment up at three in the morning looking for it. I’ve never searched for anything so hard.
