TV Guide and Styling Tips at Badgley Mischka

If you think you have the landlord from the hell, wait until you see what the residents of 666 Park Avenue are up against when the ABC series premieres on September 30. Mercedes Masohn (Fox’s The Finder), who leads a cast which includes Vanessa Williams, is spared from Satan’s minions because—why else?—she plays a fashion photographer: “I’m the lucky girl who gets to wear all the designer clothes. I’m obsessed with fashion. Everyday when we get into wardrobe, we’re like little girls in a candy store, jumping up and down. It’s every designer you can think of. There’s Badgley Mischka in there, even vintage Halston.”

Masohn, with her pal Kelly Bensimon, watched Badgley Mischka’s S/S 2013 show today, along with Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl), Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle Deleasa (Married to Jonas), Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, and Lauren Conrad (The Hills).

We caught sneak peeks of 666 Park Avenue, Gossip Girl and, from stylist Phillip Bloch, what we’ll see on red carpets this award season.

Trachtenberg is currently filming the final season of Gossip Girl. The 26-year-old Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn native—an alum of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Six Feet Under, and Weeds—has portrayed deliciously bad girl Georgina Sparks for six seasons. “Georgina’s always causing trouble and since it’s the last season, she’s going to try to destroy everyone.”

Her thoughts about Badgley Mischka’s show were less dark. “I thought it was absolutely wonderful,” said Trachtenberg. “It was like stepping into a magical fairytale of nymphs and sprites and all good things.” Badgley Mischka’s runway was casual wear reimagined in chiffon and organza, in soft shades of blush, dove, ivory, and nude. Their peerless body-hugging, backless evening gowns shimmered like spun sugar in the same delicate tones.

“The colors were extraordinary and the collection was so elegant and serene,” said Bloch. “It was refreshing. I definitely expect to see these dresses on the Emmy red carpet [September 23].”

But Bloch has a bone to pick with last week’s MTV VMAs. “Nowadays, you see a little bit of everything. Nobody pushes the envelope like back in the day. The last two [VMA red carpets] have been so horrible because the clothes were so uninteresting. People say, ‘Oh, maybe they can’t get the good dresses.’ Ke$ha can’t get a good dress? ‘Ke$ha wants to do her own thing.’ What is that thing that Ke$ha wants to do? I was very disappointed. I thought that Miley Cyrus was the only one that looked good. It’s because she took a chance.

“And don’t get me started on these girls’ shoes!”
