For this month’s Andy’s Candy, Interview and British-born designer Neil Barrett collaborated on a special capsule collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts emblazoned with “hybrid” versions of covers from the magazine’s nearly five-decade-long history. “It’s been a passion project for more than five years,” says Interview fashion director Miguel Enamorado. “And once I saw one of Neil’s ‘hybrid’ tees, I knew he would be the perfect collaborator to give his own modern spin to our archive collection of iconic covers.”
“The concept of ‘cutting and pasting’ iconic images of people, cartoons, or sculpures has been constantly present in my work over the last 12 years, so this collection was a total pleasure to create,” adds Barrett. “Looking at the Interview archives was like traveling in time over 40-some years of pop culture.” Barrett spliced together, in cheekily graphic mash-ups, Brad Pitt and Justin Bieber, Jay Z and Robert De Niro, and Elizabeth Taylor and Eddie Redmayne, among others. The collection is available at Barneys New York, Mr Porter, and Neil Barrett as of today, November 28, 2016.
