DO YOU HAVE ANY RITUALS OR SUPERSTITIONS? I try to avoid them, because I don’t want to fall into the trap. I guess it’s almost my superstition to not have a superstition.

DO YOU HAVE A RECURRING DREAM? I used to wake up in a start; I would be snowboarding on the side of a mountain and I would fly off the side of the trail. And then I got to experience that in Lake Placid on Whiteface, where I was avoiding a woman who wasn’t ready for the trail, but I wasn’t really ready for the trail, either, and I steered off, and fortunately, there was netting on the side.

CHOSEN SUPER POWER: I want to materialize food, since I love to eat. Just summon it from thin air.

WHAT WOULD YOU SUMMON FOR YOUR LAST MEAL? Mexican. In and around my mouth. So good.

SECRET TALENT: I’m actually a classically trained ballet dancer. I danced for balance and flexibility in the boat until I was 14, which, unfortunately, was right when I started to partner, which was the best part.

GREATEST FEAR: Never being able to paddle again. It’s my happy place. It’s where I go when I need to get away from everything. If I couldn’t do that, I don’t know …
