Most Wanted: Alexander Wang Marion Bag
Our Most Wanted item for the week is an Alexander Wang's 'Marion' bag, pictured above. We're sick of wasting precious minutes madly rummaging through giant handbags every time we need to hop on the subway, open a locked door, or pay for something. ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 02/21/12
We're going to go out on a limb here and say that Francisco Costa has been watching Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Yesterday at Calvin Klein models channeled Lisbeth Salander (aka front-row guest Rooney Mara) with nude make-up, slicked-back dark hair or blunt bangs, black leather, and sheer-paneled, decollage revealing dresses—a Mara red-carpet favorite. Proenza Schouler, always a NYFW highlight, revamped downtown style by combining traditional Eastern (think Samurai) and futuristic elements. The presentation began with oversized leather jackets and ended with the sort of pretty dresses that have won Proenza such a loyal following. ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 02/17/12
Last night Interview joined the crowds around the ice rink at the Standard hotel for a good ol' game of Fashion Week ice hockey. ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 02/17/12
Ports' Fiona Cibani broke away from the week's trend of flat booties and sent her models down the runway in knee-high, suede orange, green and black boots. The collection began with some low-slung, slouchy trousers, similar to those seen at Diesel, and lurex dresses. ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 02/17/12
First Dibs: Proenza Schouler Fall 2012 Look 16
Our first First Dibs from Fall 2012 shows is Proenza Schouler look 16, pictured above. We love the tough-girl chic of the downtown designers, but really how many studded black leather boots and grey cashmere beanies can a girl own? ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 02/17/12
Michael Kors deftly combines houndstooth with metallics, with feathers and furs in abundance. It will make for quite a hunt! ARTICLE PUBLISHED: 02/16/12
Russell Simmons on Whitney Houston at Vivienne Tam
Simmons has focused primarily on fashion rather than music for the last decade, creating the Phat Farm, Baby Phat (with ex-wife Kimora Lee), American Classics and Argyleculture labels and paving the way for dozens of lines from hip-hop artists, including Fubu (LL Cool J), Rocawear (Jay-Z), Apple Bottoms (Nelly) and Billionaire Boys Club (Pharrell Williams). Sophia Kokosalaki's collection for Diesel Black Gold focused on outwear (from leopard print to leather, sheerling and denim) and slouchy cropped trousers and skirts. Models wore marble-printed booties or ankle-strap pumps, and carried studded hobo bags. Our favorite piece: the zip-front, double layered, faded red jacket from look 23 and pictured in our slideshow.
