Fusing a calming electronic soundscape with smooth and melodic vocals, Woodson Black—better known as Haux—transports listeners to the titular location of his latest single: “Seaside.” Premiering below, the song features light percussion elements that create wave-like textures while the singer, songwriter, and producer softly croons, “Run ’til our lungs cave in / Tell all our worst lies / Wait ’til they sink or swim … Breathless, we count our falls.”
“It seems so rare that we’re actually able to act on our impulses in the moments we feel them and do things that end up surprising ourselves,” Black says. “I think I wrote ‘Seaside’ as a reminder to myself that sometimes the best way forward is to not look back.”
Next month, Black will release his debut EP, All We’ve Known, which was written and recorded between his home studio in The Berkshires and an apartment in London. The five-song compilation will include “Seaside,” as well as two tracks—”Caves” and “Homegrown”—that have already amassed more than three million collective streams.
“The more I think about it, the more I realize All We’ve Known is just a collection of secrets,” Black continues. “The kind of secrets you might keep in the places you go or in the people you meet. The kind of secrets that by themselves don’t mean too much, but when put together paint a picture of the whole you and all the things you’ve come to know.”
ALL WE’VE KNOWN WILL BE RELEASED JULY 8, 2016 VIA AKIRA RECORDS. FOR MORE ON HAUX, VISIT HIS WEBSITE.
