Before Nico Parker’s first day on the set of Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo, the 14-year-old actress got some valuable advice from her mother, Thandie Newton: “Be nice and remember everyone’s name.” Try as she might, the London native just isn’t that great with names. “Dumbo is very much one of those films that I loved growing up, and I had seen it so many times before doing this. When I watched it as a kid, my mom always cried at ‘Baby Mine,’ the part where Dumbo’s mom is in the jail-cart thing. I finally watched it again properly when I began the process of auditioning, and I cried, too. I was like, ‘Why is this in a kid’s film?’”
