This Fashion Week, AMI Goes Underground

AMI

Yesterday, Parisians from every arrondissement converged in the Palais Brongniart to ring in AMI’s IRL return to the catwalk. The Parisian label’s highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2022 Menswear and Womenswear presentation reflected what Alexandre Mattiussi, the founder and creative director of AMI, describes as the “urban ballet, where everyone—regardless of age, origins and social status, mingles and coexists.” And what better place to channel the energy of a crowd than the Métro? With the addition of some white tiling—a staple of the Paris underground—the Palais, formerly the site of the French stock exchange, took the form of a boisterous (and remarkably stylish) Métro station, replete with equal parts eager anticipation and eclectic style. Models like Emily Ratajkowski, Kristen Owen, Paloma Elsesser, Rebecca Dayan, Meadow Walker and Isabelle Adjani walked the runway in luxuriant faux furs, unisex outerwear, and striking textiles, reflecting the true breadth of the city’s influences. Below, we tapped the photographer Winter Vandenbrink to capture some BTS moments for us before the train left the station.
