Sexy, Freaky, Futuristic: Luis de Javier SS24
In the ’90s, Spanish youth trapped in a world of turmoil and repression discovered euphoric release in La Ruta del Bacalao, a pulsing hardcore rave scene that was revived last weekend during L.A. Fashion Week at the Luis De Javier SS24 runway show. The collection, created by De Javier while under the mentorship of Riccardo Tisci, is an exploration of sumptuous latex and structural silhouettes—a reinterpretation of club kid motifs as high octane genderless forms fit for the 21st century. Backstage, celebrities like Halsey and Noah Cyrus mingled with models drenched in red sequined dresses and spiked flats from the designer’s ASLAN World collaboration. For a moment, De Javier transported us to a sexy freaky future, and we can’t wait to live it.
