International Ballerinas Take Paris

NICOLAS ANDREAS TARALIS, AMAYA ARZUAGA
AZRU KAPROL

Is a black lace tutu all a cool girl needs next spring? That’s what Canadian in Paris Nicolas Andreas thinks. One of Paris’s most promising young designers, Taralis opened Paris Fashion Week with the naughty ballerina look and followed suit with a lot of dark, chic-goth tailoring. Showing before and after this dark star, was Spanish talent Amaya Arzuaga an  Turkey’s Arzu Kaprol. In case the similarity of these new names has you confused, think of Amaya as the arty one with the sculptural collection of pink satin angel wing dresses  and transparent soap bubble cocktail minis. And while Arzu is also in 24/7 cocktail form—is nightlife booming in Istanbul, or what?—she’s much more cyber minded combining a bit of feminine fluff with a robotic look.
