A new jewelry collection channels Noah’s Ark
COURTESY OF VAN CLEEF & ARPELS.
Jewelry maison Van Cleef & Arpels is unveiling a collection of biblical proportions, with a matching installation curated by visual artist Robert Wilson, for the first time in the United States.
Inspired by Noah’s Ark and the great flood, each sparkling critter piece comes two by two—horses, ladybugs, koalas and rabbits—there are more than 60 paired clips in the whimsical collection. The exhibit features a video loop evoking the storm and a black box “vessel” lined with jewel cases.
Wilson, for his part, offers a lighthearted take on what is one of many dark stories in the Old Testament, finding beauty in how life was rebuilt following the storm, and the trying journey to safety for the animal inhabitants of Noah’s Ark.
THE INSTALLATION RUNS FROM NOVEMBER 3, 2017 THROUGH NOVEMBER 19, 2017 AT CEDAR LAKE.
