Now: relief from heat, humidity, and beach-chic waves. Fall is around the corner and Jen Atkin of the Andy Lecompte Salon is dishing on all things hair related. Atkin says, “I think the biggest hair trends right now would be the ‘Brazilian Blowdry’ for curly, frizzy hair.” With that comes a lot of terminology, like “Baliage.”: “It’s great for keeping your color costs down, as bleach is only applied to your ends, and you don’t have to go in for touch-ups as with highlights.”
As for haircuts, Atkin says most of her clients are thinning out their layers and allowing the hair to get a bit thicker on the ends. “Extensions are slowly becoming less popular (hurray!) and girls are doing a more natural look. Also bangs a la Freja from the Chanel ads is a huge request for fall.”
Other cuts and styles we can count on seeing this season will be, “Thick, one-length, blunt cut hair–think the new Chloe and Lanvin ads, and Michelle Pfeiffer at the time of Scarface. This look was also shown at Chloe and Lanvin shows. Alternatively, at Balmain, there were messy hairstyles with a hard side part. Extension-free messy texture hair, but polished by the side part was also seen at the Calvin Klein show, Stekka, Celine, and Mario Schwab. Last, I saw a lot of turbans and headpieces at Prada and Michael Kors.”
