Emmy Nominations Get It Right, For Once

KRISTEN WIIG PRACTICES HER “DEFEAT” AND “VICTORY” FACES. SOMEBODY GIVE THIS WOMAN AN EMMY ALREADY!

This year’s Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and we’re happy to say they didn’t infuriate us like they so often do! Dawson’s Creek‘s Joshua Jackson and Bridesmaids breakout Melissa McCarthy (whom we’ve loved since Gilmore Girls) made the announcements—and among the pleasant surprises is that McCarthy herself is up for an award, Actress in a Comedy Series, for Mike & Molly. We’ve never watched that show, personally, but we’re willing to bet she’s good in it! It’s a good morning for the Bridesmaids crew in general: Kristen Wiig pulled in a Supporting Actress in a Comedy nomination for Saturday Night Live; and a bunch of the series nominees—The Office, Parks and Recreation, Mad Men, and 30 Rock—have, at one point or another, had an episode directed by Paul Feig.

Among the top shows and series nominated were Mildred Pierce (21 nominations), Mad Men (19), Boardwalk Empire (18), Modern Family (17), Saturday Night Live (16), and Game of Thrones and 30 Rock, which pulled in 13 nominations each. Read on for an abridged list of the nominees—we’ve left out things like “Outstanding Voice-Over” in favor of the awards you actually care about. Our guesses (what we think will win, not necessarily what we wish would) are starred.
