When Beatrice closed last week, nightlife Manhattan-wide felt the consequences. Maybe Brooklyn felt it too; we don't know. Bars across the island were crowded with heels and cover-up—even the gay bars. "Save Beatrice," the city cried, and the bar answered, setting up a semi-secret annex Friday night on the top of the unfinished Cooper Hotel. The view sure beat Beatrice, but is Veselka really the new Corner Bistro?
