Sue Hostetler, Carlos de Souza, Vik Muniz, and Addison O’Dea hosted an evening opening of Oskar Metsavaht Ipanema's first U.S. photo exhibition at the Osklen flagship store in Miami Beach. The night was casual and intimate, with guests like Bebel Gilberto, Cecilia Dean, Carlos Mota, Lady Liliana Cavendish, and Bob Colacello browsing the collection of luxury wear, laughing and catching up before the maelstrom of Art Basel Miami Beach touched down. It was a good night in the eye of the storm: drinks were sipped to the turntable soundtrack of Sean Souza, and friends paused to admire the photography that surrounded them. "I constantly photograph things that surround my aesthetic beliefs," explained the designer-cum-photographer of his work, "These images must be beautiful portraits of what I wish to create... This series of my photographs from Ipanema are the opportunity to share the moment before they become decodified to design, to fashion, they're my moment of pure art." Twenty percent of the evening's sales were donated to the Brazil Foundation.
