Dior Presents 'Picturing Marilyn'

Patrick McMullan Company

Champagne abounded at this blanc-et-noir fete celebrating "Picturing Marilyn," an exhibit of photographs of Marilyn Monroe, curated by the Stanley Wise Gallery. The centerpiece of the show was a never-before-seen 1962 Bert Stern photograph of Monroe in a plunge-back black Dior gown. The magnetic shot captures the perma-young bombshell looking somehow aged, weary (though, as always, ever-gamine).

A decidely youthful Dree Hemingway showcased a re-creation of the stunning piece on her person at the evening event. For Hemingway, wearing the dress was both surreal and exciting: "This is just how I wanted to dress when I was a little girl," she told us. After the cocktail hour and viewing, select guests, among them Bert Stern, Grace Coddington, Calvin Klein, Nanette Lepore, Olivier Theyskens, Christie Brinkley, Bruce Weber, Jennifer Missoni, Coco Rocha, and Max Osterweis of Suno, were invited to join director Simon Curtis, Harvey Weinstein, Celeste Holm, and Joan Copeland for a screening of My Week with Marilyn.
