With Memorial Day just a few days away, Whiskey Park ushered in the summertime with the New York launch of Caliche Rum, presented by Rande Gerber and Roberto Serrallés. Revelers entered the space—transformed into the Caliche Rum Lounge for the occasion—to find summer signifiers of the palm-trees-and-Panama-hats variety, as well as a copious selection of Caliche specialty drinks, waiting.

Host Rande Gerber, a nightlife entrepreneur, is of course the husband of supermodel Cindy Crawford, who arrived looking stunning in a second-skin black leather dress. "Rande is in the bar business, so we always have a very well-stocked bar," Crawford confided. As for her own drink of choice, she keeps things simple: rum, vodka, or tequila on the rocks. (The omission of mixers, we imagine, must help keep her in skintight dresses.) Except when she's at the beach, that is, when she might relax with a rum punch. "I love beach vacations," Crawford said. "Everyone's so relaxed, no makeup... I like Turks & Caicos. The water, and the sand. We have a house in Cabo, though, because we live in LA and that's so close. I love Mexico, just because the second you get there, you feel like you're on vacation."

Within the confines of Manhattan, the Rum Lounge may well have been the closest thing to a tropical jaunt. Joining Crawford and Gerber in knocking back a glass or two were dozens of pals including Alex Rodriguez, Russell Simmons, Estelle, Taye Diggs, and Paloma Garcia Lee.
