This is SOUND ADVICE, a weekly destination for playlists curated by Interview’s friends, enemies, and lovers. Over the past few weeks, we’ve gathered playlists from Naomi SharonSasha Colby, and horsegiirL. This week’s installment comes courtesy of DJ and producer Skype Williams, whose tunes you might recognize from your favorite runway soundtracks and sceney afterparties. By day, he’s the gallery director at the compact Fierman Gallery in Dimes Square, but the NYC native is a “music person” at heart. “There are songs I listen to in every season, and these are from the fall playlist,” he tells us, and you’re going to need more than two hands to count all of the genres incorporated, from Alanis Morissette to Brooklyn drill to Dissensus jazz. Plus, Williams flexes his dance skills and laments his post-gig diet in our questionnaire.

Where do you dance? Yes.

Bluetooth or wired headphones? Wired, specifically Skullcandy’s Ink’D+ Wired In-Ear Headphones with the mic. I’ve tried every brand of headphones and haven’t found anything that comes close. I’m very passionate about this.

Who do you trust most with the aux? People with the same music taste as me.

Who inspires you? My past, present, and future self.

What was your first concert? I’ve never been to a stadium/arena/metal detector-type concert, people never believe me. I guess technically it was Yo-Yo Ma in Central Park.

Name your favorite underrated artist: Pierre Kwenders, but he’s touring the world and winning awards, so not sure how underrated I’d call him.

Where’s the afters? At the afters.

Who’s the best dancer you know? No cap but probably me. If you mean the best technical dancer? Mikhail Baryshnikov or Usher, but I’m washing both them niggas at the gay club.

What’s your go-to post gig meal? McDonald’s ;-/

Best venue in NYC? Madison Square Garden?

What’s a music taste red flag? Not having a single country song or rap song that you like, come on.

Three things you always have with you at the function? Headphones (just in case, IYKYK), USB (just in case, IYKYK), lotion (just in case, IYKYK).

What songs do you have on repeat? A lot of Alanis Morissette, All Saints – “Black Coffee,” (my friend Carrie put me on), the last mix I did. I’m a music person.

Sunglasses inside, yes or no? Well, yes.

What do you listen to when you’re high? I don’t smoke but when I’m feeling high off life I listen to the mixes and runway music I do for Christopher John Rogers.
