Ã?lafur Arnalds Plans His Return

Bewitching Icelandic neo-classical composer Ólafur Arnalds had, by all accounts, a pretty good year. He’s only 23, but has already put out two albums; his sophomore effort, …and they have escaped the weight of darkness, was roundly praised this spring, and he spent much of the year on an extensive international tour—and found time to work on the soundtracks for two films, to boot. We’re glad to hear today, then, that Arnalds will spend the first few months of 2011 back in North America on tour [dates below]. Though his music is often understated, the shows promise to be surprisingly dynamic: a live string quartet, a light show, and projected visuals all figure in. You can get a feel for the scale of the production with Arnalds’ tour video [below]—and if you’re into it, “share” a show via his website in order to enter to win tickets to that show.
