This is SOUND ADVICE, a weekly destination for playlists curated by Interview’s friends, enemies, and lovers. Over the past few weeks, we’ve gathered playlists by Sextile, OLTH, and Tems. This week, we go beyond the TikTok FYP with Peter Martin, better known as Petey, whose latest album, USA, concentrates the artist’s patriotic stream-of-consciousness over melodic synthesizers and blaring drum machines. Even though Petey only dances at weddings, you can mosh through his mix of middle school rock educators like Pearl Jam and Fall Out Boy alongside the modern pop-punk of glaive and Oso Oso. In the ensuing questionnaire, he reveals his favorite American lake, who he trusts most with the Aux cord, and his preferred post-gig meal, a staple of the all-American diet.
