Happy 4/20 (and Happy Taurus Season) to all those who celebrate. We certainly do. I no longer partake, so instead, I’ll tell you which movie not to watch while high: Requiem for a Dream. When it came out back in 2000, I made the mistake of taking edibles before watching it in theaters, and to this day it remains the most visceral experience I’ve had in a theater, and not in a good way.

I’ve never been stoned before, so I’m really the least qualified person to be answering this question. That being said, I’m going to answer it anyway. I can imagine a movie like Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey would be a good one, if only for the stargate sequence. Or is the vibe to go bleak German expressionist cinema, like Metropolis? Is it bad to watch heavy stuff when you’re stoned? Idk. Final answer: Bratz: Rock Angelz from 2005.

I have a wild rotation. Sometimes I dive into
Sex and The City—watching this movie stoned is pure camp. It’s sort of becoming a Sunday ritual for me to get high and fantasize about NYC, sex, and men with my girl Carrie and her toxic behavior. Another favorite of mine is
Party Monster. The movie itself feels like an acid trip, from the murder plot to the fabulous fashion, and specifically Macaulay Culkin’s performance as Michael Alig. When you add pot to the formula, the film is truly a joyride. Last but not least, I’ve got to mention my one and only:
Shrek. The movie is just so layered—a masterpiece. Ladies and gentlemen: “
