Casting Call: The Warriors

In which we suggest who should star in the next big adaptation, remake, or historical film.

Walter Hills’ 1979 film The Warriors (1979) is a cult classic gem that hams up the seedy underworld of violence and gangs in 1970s New York. In today’s entertainment world, however, nothing is safe from being remade and Deadline recently reported that brothers Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil War) will be adapting The Warriors for TV with Paramount and Hulu.

The film follows the titular group, an all-male gang dressed in coordinated leather vests and based out of Coney Island. When the Gramercy Riffs, the most powerful gang of all, call for a citywide parlay in uptown Manhattan, the Warriors and their costumed friends and foes hop on the subway. Unfortunately for everyone, the Riffs’ leader, Cyrus, is assassinated during the meeting. The Warriors are framed for the killing, causing an all night manhunt as they try to get back to Brooklyn. Very few details have been offered up thus far, though we can only hope they stick closely to the original.
