Casting Call: About Last Night

In which we suggest who should star in the next big adaptation, remake, or historical film.

About Last Night is generally remembered as “that ’80s film in which Demi Moore and Rob Lowe have sex. A lot.” This not incorrect; based David Mamet’s play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, About Last Night is the story of two 20-somethings, Debbie and Danny, who meet at a bar. What begins as an “I can’t believe I did that” one-night stand, quickly develops into sex-friends, then “I think you should have a drawer,” and then cohabitation. There is a lot of semi-gratuitous nudity involved, frequent quips about the difference between the sexes, and, thanks to James “Jim” Belushi and David Mamet, a lot of swearing.

As ’80s films seem to be the third most popular choice for Hollywood remakes (after folktales and superhero films), we are not surprised that About Last Night is next on the agenda. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Hart has just signed on to a Leslye Headland (The Bachelorette)-penned remake. Hart will play Belushi’s role, the best friend of the male protagonist.
