MEN'S WEEK
“I’m in Awe of His Swag”: One Night In Paris With Amiri
THURSDAY 8:12 PM JUNE 26, 2025 PARIS
If the Amiri SS26 show channeled the glamor of Old Hollywood hotels like the Chateau Marmont, the exclusive dinner at Lafayette’s that followed later that evening, co-hosted by the brand alongside Interview and Ray-Ban Meta, was a full-fledged Parisian fantasy. “There were wine bottles with candles looming up from them,” remarked Overcompensating star Rish Shah the morning after when he got on the horn with the 27-year-old Brit for a post-show debrief. “The night only got hotter and sweatier.” On hand for the party were a suite of VIPs—including Eva Chen, Becky G, Ellen Von Unwerth, Lucky Blue Smith, and Mike Amiri himself—all of whom indulged in steak frites, truffle rigatoni, and Don Julio 1942 to celebrate the brand’s new collection, which featured loungewear and tailoring in an array of rich hues. “Every single thing caught my eye,” said Shah as he rode off on his Lime bike to continued the French fantasy.

JULIAN RIBEIRO: Good morning. How are you?
RISH SHAH: I’m very well, thank you. How are you?
RIBEIRO: Dude, I’m good. I was responsible last night and I called it at the appropriate time.
SHAH: I think you were wise to call it when you did, honestly. I mean, the night only got hotter and sweatier.
RIBEIRO: So, we’re recapping the day, right? Let’s start at the show.
SHAH: Yeah. I was in this glorious double-breasted Amiri get up suit that had this beautiful kind of lurex thread running all the way down it. I felt like it was glistening in all the best ways. It had this nice edge to it that made me feel super chic. I really didn’t want to get out of it.
RIBEIRO: It was my first fashion show in Paris, so I was—
SHAH: No way. What an unbelievable way to open the floodgates to Paris. Honestly, I loved the show.
RIBEIRO: Did you run into any friends there?
SHAH: I was actually sat next to my very dear friend and colleague and co-star Benito Skinner, which was amazing. And there was so much love being poured into our TV show from some other members of the audience and people as we were arriving, so it was really, really sweet and sincere and lovely that we got to have our first Paris Fashion Week moment together at the Amiri Show. That was really special to both of us.
RIBEIRO: So we all had firsts. Was there anything from the show that you were like, “This would make sense with my vibe and my life”?
SHAH: One-hundred percent. I wish I was cool enough to rock that cigar jacket. Did you see those pockets?
RIBEIRO: I think I know the one you’re talking about.
SHAH: I was like, “Imagine rolling out of bed with that on and just stepping out onto the balcony and being cool enough to just light one off.” I just thought that was the coolest piece. Some of the trench coats were beautiful. And I mean, the fabrications were also different and had these really deep, rich colors. Every single thing caught my eye. I was enamored by all of the women’s pieces just as much. Everything was just done phenomenally.
RIBEIRO: So we went to the show, we had a breather, and then we went to dinner at Lafayette’s Paris, which is so beautiful.
SHAH: Oh my god. It was stunning.
RIBEIRO: They have a fabulous room in the basement where you smoke, like a windowless cellar.
SHAH: Dude, I took a photo of it when I went down there. It was so sick.
RIBEIRO: I was like, “Every bar in the world needs a waxy smoking cellar room.”
SHAH: Yeah. And there were wine bottles with candles looming up from them, right?
RIBEIRO: Lyas, who’s from Paris, was telling me, “The difference between this and America is this place, these stones are real. This is from the 1400s,” like trying to big dog me about America.
SHAH: That’s so funny. Did you get a picture of that?
RIBEIRO: Yes. I got an incredible photo of Lyas lighting his cigarette with his big red lipstick lips off the waxy candle.
SHAH: Oh my god.
RIBEIRO: Wait, did you pick out glasses, any of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses from the table?
SHAH: Oh, yeah. I got a pair of the smaller square-shaped ones and they’re brown. They’re fucking sick. Like, I woke up today and suddenly on my phone I saw these images that I’d forgotten I’d taken.
RIBEIRO: They’re fun, right?
SHAH: I feel a bit like Tony Stark now. I’m excited to maybe cycle around Paris on a Lime bike and have them on.
RIBEIRO: That is the perfect use for them.
SHAH: Yeah.
RIBEIRO: But it was fun. The atmosphere and ambience was high at the dinner.
SHAH: Yes.
RIBEIRO: The food was great. Wait, what’d you eat?
SHAH: I actually loved the salsa. I’m a sucker for anything with Parmesan. It just melts away in my mouth. But the rigatoni for me. Also, I’m vegetarian, so I always love a refined menu where you kind of only have one choice. That’s when you know it’s going to be really, really good.
RIBEIRO: Wait, are we both vegetarian kings?
SHAH: Are you vegetarian? Yes.
RIBEIRO: I’ve never had meat before.
SHAH: Oh my god. I was raised vegetarian.
RIBEIRO: So was I.
SHAH: I knew we were connected.
RIBEIRO: See? The thread goes deep.
SHAH: That’s amazing.
RIBEIRO: Yeah, I felt the same way, because I was like, “Great, I can finally eat something substantial.” Because it’s so easy in France where they’re like, “Oh, it just has beef, butter, fat all over it,” and it’s like, “Oh my gosh, you got to throw me a bone, man.”
SHAH: Yeah, yeah. Literally throw me a veggie bone.
RIBEIRO: Well, actually, I learned that McDonald’s in Paris has the McVeggie now. They used to have it in India–
SHAH: Oh, do they?
RIBEIRO: They have it in India, but now they have it in France.
SHAH: Oh, wait, don’t even get me started on McDonald’s in India. That’s a whole different story.
RIBEIRO: I know. Did you meet anyone fun at the party?
SHAH: Well, obviously you and Mitch and Diana. I just had the best time kicking it with you guys. Rickey Thompson is just the most–
RIBEIRO: Charismatic person in the world, right?
SHAH: I was going to say exactly that. So fun to be around, so charismatic. He’s got this magnetism to him. It was also great to have a really nice moment with Mike himself and talk about his influences. That was special to me, honestly.
RIBEIRO: Yeah. I met Mike for the first time last night too, and it was nice to really put a face to a name and I was all dressed in the clothes and I went up with the big Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and I was like, “Mike, I’m recording a video for this,” and he was like, “Yeah. Totally, man.”
SHAH: Honestly, he just oozes coolness. I don’t know how he does it. I’m in awe of his swag.
RIBEIRO: Yeah, I almost remarked to myself, “He has just nice hair.”
SHAH: Yeah, honestly, he cleans up.
RIBEIRO: So you went to the after parties. Were any of them fun?
SHAH: I ended up at the GQ party first and it was chaotic. It was so hectic. It was hot, it was sweaty. The DJ was yelling at people to spread out. And I understand it. If anything, I rate that he did that. It was fun, I think you just had to really find your place to breathe and try and boogie. I kind of wish there was less of a stigma around actually dancing at these things.
RIBEIRO: Yeah.
SHAH: Then I decided it was a bit too much and I wanted to preserve my outfit without it being ruined with someone’s margarita being spilled on it. So I ended up stepping out and decided it’s better to just be outside. I was just so overheated, I wanted to just go shower. And as soon as I did, I was like, “Ah, I need to hit the hay actually.”
RIBEIRO: So you’re in Paris until Sunday. Where are you headed after?
SHAH: I’m going to another show on Sunday and then I’m going to fly straight from there afterwards back to New York, and I’m going to be there probably through the summer.
RIBEIRO: Incredible. Come to the Interview office!
SHAH: Yes, I need to.
RIBEIRO: On business. We’re in Chinatown.
