Sufjan Stevens’s Film Experiment
Published April 16, 2010
If you didn’t make it to this year’s Big Ears Festival, then you likely haven’t seen Sufjan Stevens‘s short film, Destroy Those Irritating Memories. Until now, the 2010 incarnation of the Tennessee festival was the only place where the collection of “Exposure stills from old tv shows [Steven’s] step dad had given him as a kid that he didn’t like and would mess around with when he was bored” had been shown. Luckily for us, a bootleg of the screening of the experimental production, which includes musical accompaniment by Brooklyn band The National’s Bryce and Aaron Dessner, has made its way online.
