Lizzo, Lil’ Kim, and A Threesome of Falcon Chicks: This Week’s NYC Celeb News Map

WorldPride has finally descended upon our metropolis, and because nothing good ever comes easy, humidity is rising, and the barometer’s getting low. According to all sources (what sources now?), the street’s the place to go—it’s raining stars in New York City. Billy Porter shined in 50,000 crystals, Lizzo spread a message of self-love, and Lil’ Kim partied with a bunch of drag queens. (In straight person news, Paul Rudd took a video selfie.) Here, we’ve tracked the best of the best star sightings, outfits, and other famous-ish things, making news across New York City’s five boroughs during the week of June 23.

LIZZO at the TIMES SQUARE EDITION, MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN

Our favorite singer-slash-flautist-slash-that bitch opened up Pride with a performance at the Times Square Edition’s Paradise Club sending fans a much-needed reminder: “Pride is not just a holiday . . . Self love is not a trend. In all the communities … Black communities. Fat communities. Gay communities. We need love and self-care because that’s self-preservation.”

BILLY PORTER, WHOOPI GOLDBERG,  at the BARCLAYS CENTER, DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

Billy Porter never, ever disappoints with his outfit choices, and, naturally, he simply outdid himself for Pride. On Wednesday night, the Pose star performed at the Barclays Center alongside Cyndi Lauper, Chaka Khan, and more in a catsuit by the Blonds made up of 50,000 crystals—because why show up at all if you don’t shine, baby, shine?

LIL’ KIM and ALASKA at the THE STANDARD HOTEL, MEATPACKING DISTRICT, MANHATTAN

A moment in queer herstory: Legendary drag queen Alaska (in a custom MCM look), and Brooklyn queens West Dakota, HaraJuku, Zenobia, and Serena Tea turned it up and turned it out for a night at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard on Thursday night for Out’s Pride party. The queens performed “Lady Marmalade,” alongside none other than Lil’ Kim herself. We’re not gagging, you’re gagging.

PAUL RUDD at HOOK & LADDER, TRIBECA, MANHATTAN

Paul Rudd, world’s official daddy, is never done doing dad things, like filming embarrassing video selfies in the middle of the street. Rudd announced that he will be in Jason Reitman’s new Ghostbusters reboot—and that he’s so excited he “slimed” himself—by heading downtown and filming himself outside Hook & Ladder, the original Ghostbusters HQ. We’re so glad he took the call.

THE BABY CHICK THREESOME at the BAYONNE BRIDGE, STATEN ISLAND

In perhaps our first Star Map item from Staten Island, a powerful (and undoubtedly adorable) triumvirate of three baby falcons have officially taken their much-anticipated first flights. Rosie, Martha, and Juno, as they’re named—Rosie is an homage to Rosie the Riveter, in honor of the 75th anniversary of D-Day—are alive and kicking, ready to turn from “just some chicks” to full-fledged lady killers in no time. Don’t cross their bridge—these peregrine falcons are out to catch some prey, and New York’s got plenty to go around.
