Rihanna and Opening Ceremony Celebrate Seven Fashion Moments

Seven is more than a lucky number in Rihanna’s world. In the last seven years the pop star has won seven Grammys and seven Billboard awards. She also recently released Apologetic, her seventh album. To celebrate the number’s significance in her life, the singer chartered a Delta Boeing 777 for her highly publicized (and disastrous according to the journalists who were invited along for the ride) 777 Tour, where she performed seven concerts in seven countries in seven days. It’s no wonder then, to mark the American launch of her Rihanna for River Island collection, which she designed for the British brand with Adam Selman, that the singer partnered with Opening Ceremony for “RIHtrospective,” a retrospective of—you guessed it!—seven of the singer’s ensembles.

For three weeks, a cluster of Rihanna-esque mannequins are filling the ground floor of Opening Ceremony’s Howard Street space to take shoppers back through several of the singer’s performances and red carpet appearances. Among the looks that Rihanna and Opening Ceremony selected are the Bob Marley dress Selman designed for her Saturday Night Live performance last November, the yellow camouflage Opening Ceremony dress she sported on her Talk That Talk album cover, and the Jeremy Scott dog tag dress the singer wore during her 2011 Loud Tour. Not going to be in New York or the UK to get your Rihanna for River Island fix? The collection will also be available at the store’s Tokyo and Los Angeles locations, as well as at openingceremony.us.
