Paris Day 1: Call It What You Want

VIKTOR & ROLF, LOOK 2; DRIES VAN NOTEN, LOOK 31; LOUIS VUITTON, LOOK 17

If the made-up buzzword at Louis Vuitton was bleisure, then the hybrid for Paris’s opening day would most certainly be tlouch (tailored slouch, naturally). In fact, contradictions of terms seemed to be the theme of the day, with Vuitton funneling highbrow inspiration (Helbers looked to the Vienna Secessionists) into loosely tailored layered separates and Viktor & Rolf blending suit jackets with sweatpants and rolled denim. Dries Van Noten wore high-low on its sleeve, splicing jackets with shirt sleeves so that the original sleeves appeared to have been ripped off and replaced.
